As well as looking after our beautiful children in Kaper, Thailand, The Q Foundation also feels an obligation to reach out to children in our worldwide global village.
This month we had the privilege of helping the Bali Care For Kids Program through The Jodie O’Shea Orphanage in Denpasar. Built in loving memory of Jodie O Shea who tragically died as a result of the Bali bombing in 2002, the Jodie O’Shea Orphanage was founded to improve the lives of children faced with poverty in Bali.
The orphanage is home to 86 children four of which are babies, with ages ranging from 10 days old to 17 years old. Prior to coming to the orphanage all of them had grown up malnourished in poverty stricken areas and often from one-parent families. Now at their new home, the children have undergone amazing transformations.
For us this month, our mission was simple – tick off as many basics as we could on their Wish List – and oh what fun it was!
In the end we filled four shopping trolleys and were able to get essential supplies like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, cleaning products, baby nappies, buckets, baskets, food essentials and so much more!
After a mammoth task of getting everything to fit in the vehicles, Jen then had the pleasure of seeing the children’s faces light up as they came out to help unload all the goodies at the orphanage. While that would have been reward enough, Jen also got to channel her inner child playing in the brightly painted courtyard with the children.
In Jen’s own words…
“I woke up after my visit to the Jodi O’Shea Orphanage with a wonderful sense of gratitude for the children who are being looked after there and also with the feeling of urgency knowing that there are so many children who slip through the cracks and do not get the care. I know that we cannot help them all, however here at The Q Foundation we are committed to help all of those that we can and to spread the word of power of contribution.
The thought of little Grace, 10 days old not being able to be cared for after being abandoned at birth breaks my heart. Thank you to all of you who help on any level to help the children of the world feel safe and loved.”
This is the reason The Q Foundation exists. Knowing that little ones like Grace will grow up in an environment of love and security and be taught skills to help them succeed in life, is all due to the generosity of her worldwide global family.
This is the kind of difference you are making when you support The Q Foundation. You are changing the lives of children the world over.
Thank you for your continued support!
