Like so many people worldwide, The Q Foundation Kids have been impacted significantly by COVID over the last 12 months. But unfortunately, it’s just taken a turn for the worst.
The kids are currently going through their third lockdown with an announcement to extend the lockdown imminent. To make matters worse, COVID has now reached the kids’ village of Kaper.
The good news, at least, is that at the time of writing, none of our kids have COVID. Though with limited sanitation and assistance, there is no doubt that this will be a devastating blow for the village. Currently, the Thai government is rolling out mandatory vaccinations for the village and surrounding areas to minimise the death toll.
So, let me paint a picture of what life is like there at the moment. Their lockdown is not like our lockdown. There is no home schooling. There is no work. There is no money. And if that wasn’t bad enough, there are no markets open – the only place they can get food. People are turning to the black market to eat right now, to survive.
As we can’t support TQF kids with their schooling at the moment, we’re helping them in every other way we can, but we need your help.
Our reserves are limited. Through COVID, we lost more than 80% of our sponsors. And I get it; I do. It’s the oxygen mask scenario – we have to look after our own families before looking outside of that.
But with the end of the Financial Year approaching, it’s an excellent opportunity to give a tax-deductible donation. And every dollar counts. No donation is too small to help the kids in the situation they’re in right now.
We’ve been fortunate in how this virus has been handled here in Australia, but so many other countries around the world haven’t. I urge you, if you can, please give, so we can help meet the most basic of needs for these kids right now.
